Leadership Index
The leadership index is used for leadership development, manager support and resource allocation
By starting with the Leadership Index, you can allocate resources to the right managers and work on leadership development in a strategic manner. Many organisations use the Leadership Index to build their manager support. For example, map out how your "high-performers” are viewed by the group of employees.
The Leadership Index - continuous leadership development for your managers
Netsurvey's Leadership Index focuses on leadership behaviours which develop a profitable workplace climate. The questions on which the index is based are coupled with profitability. Leadership is measured as a part of the employee survey, and every manager receives a clear value for their leadership, seen from the workforce's point of view. The personal report allows the manager to see strengths and areas for improvement in an easy way.
Leadership in the organisation - simple reports with strengths and areas for development for your leadership development
Apart from the managers' reports, the Leadership Index is also reported in summary, both for departments and for the organisation as a whole, in an organisational report. Here, it is easy to get an overarching picture of the proportion of green, amber and red managers. There are two types of green: the dark green ones function as a carrot and signify excellent results. The light green ones indicate that they are acceptable. Amber stands for warning, and red means that leadership qualities need developing.
The Leadership Index gives simple and clear targets for managers to work to in order to achieve good leadership.
By measuring leadership; you give the managers clear and simple goals to work towards. You also send out a signal that leadership is important, which in itself will influence the development of leadership. Leadership development within the organisation becomes clear and measurable.
The link between leadership and profitability
Leadership in your organisation directly affects the company's efficiency and profitability. Netsurvey's analysis show that one of the most important areas for a profitable workplace climate is questions about leadership. In a group where managers show their workforce respect, listens, shows interest in the workforce's development and believes in them, there is an increased likelihood of the group being successful. Communication becomes easier and the goals are seen as being clearer.
Netsurvey's Leadership Index is used as a basis for your organisation's:
- Leadership development
- As part of its manager support
- Mapping and follow up of "high-performers"
- Allocation of resources to the right areas and right managers
Adapted index or standardised index for increasing leadership abilities internally
The Leadership Index is available as a standard product within Netsurvey's employee survey but can also be adapted for mapping your organisation's specific leadership profile. If your organisation's strategic leadership behaviours are already set out, your Leadership Index is supplemented and the analysis is adapted to your organisation.
Improved leadership ability saves costs
Studies have shown that the risk of unwanted personnel turn-over reduces if the idividuals think they have a good manager. A leader who can shape his or her workforce into a team where people work together towards common goals, at the same time as individuals are taken into account, is a good precursor for profitability.
Good leadership wears off on the organisation
Netsurvey's analyses show clearly how good leadership spreads throughout the organisation. The same applies to less good leadership. The groups with leaders who get low results in their Leadership Index, lack efficiency and, over the longer term, profitability. The natural human will to contribute to success is taken into account by a good leader. A manager who does not have the opportunity to develop his or her leadership of the organisation continually has little chance of utilising the energy of his or her workforce.
